Biocrops Biotechnology utilizes rapid seed multiplication technologies which are viable for commercial seed and seedling production. The company has an installed Temporary Immersion Bio-reactors (TIB) in the National Centre For Genetic Resources and Biotechnology (NACGRAB) and the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA). Biocrops Biotechnology has recorded success in the delivery of commercial quantities of sugar seedlings to Sunti sugar plantation (a division of flour mills Nigeria) and is about to set up an on-site bio-factory for the sugar plantation.
Strategic Seeds Nigeria Limited (SSNL) is a limited liability company in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. It was established in 2009 and incorporated in 2012 to produce and market seeds and seedlings of various crops in Nigeria. The company obtained its license as a private seed company in Nigeria in 2015 from the National Agricultural Seeds Council (NASC). SSNL is also a member of the Seed Entrepreneurs Association of Nigeria (SEEDAN). In 2014, the company participated in the federal government’s Growth Enhancement Support (GES) scheme as a seed supplier.
SSNL has gained increased visibility in the seed value chain outside of Ebonyi State as a result of the support from its partnerships with development organizations. The company has been able to market improved seeds directly to smallholder farmers in multiple states including Kano, Edo and Anambra
SSNL has expertise in the production and marketing of improved seeds of grain crops particularly rice due to its importance in the food and farming systems of Ebonyi state. The company also produces seedlings of root and tuber crops such as cassava and yam.
Hikma Agro Services was incorporated in 2014 to promote the uptake of new farming technologies, and good agronomic and agri-business practices. Da-Allgreen Seeds Ltd (Da-Allgreen Seeds) is a Nigerian company involved in the production, processing and marketing of field crop and vegetable seeds, including seedlings and cuttings. It also sells fresh vegetables and herbs. The company’s main crops in its seed sales are rice, maize and sorghum, and it markets vitamin A-fortified cassava. Its portfolio includes open-pollinated varieties and hybrids for some crops. The company has competence in terms of engaging smallholder farmers and in testing varieties suitable for the market, related to research and development. The company has expertise in the production of seedlings of oil palm, moringa, neem, jatropha, cashew, guava, mango, and root and tuber crops such as cassava and yam.

Iribov West Africa was founded in 2008 as production location for ornamentals for the European market. Iribov is a service laboratory that offers a wide range of laboratory services for plant breeding and production companies, plant breeding and propagation companies. The company has three components, the most important of which is the tissue culture laboratory for plant propagation and breeding support projects. The other two groups are analytical service and the cultivation of plants in greenhouses. As a service company, Iribov works for large and small companies. Iribov activities covers a wide range of crops; including mainly ornamentals and fruit plants are for export. For the local market, a wide variety of crops are now in production such as; Ginger, Yam, Sweet potato, Bamboo, Cashew, Mango, Passion Fruit, etc.
Nwabudo Agro Seeds and Inputs Company Limited (NASICL) is an indigenous, registered seed company in Nigeria, incorporated in 2012 with operating headquarters in Umuahia, Abia State. It is the largest seed company in South-East and South-South Nigeria and supplies seeds to all parts of the country. NASICL engages in the production and marketing of improved seeds of grains – rice, cowpea, maize, wheat, sorghum; roots and tubers – yam, cassava, potato; and vegetables. In addition to seed sales, the company also engages in marketing fertilizers, crop protection chemicals and agricultural equipment.
NASICL produces foundation seed on its farms while outgrowers are engaged for certified seed production. The company has over 750 registered outgrowers spread across six states including Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Anambra, Enugu and Abia. NASCAR’s outgrowers in the Northern parts of Nigeria engage in wheat, maize, sorghum and rice seed production. In South-Eastern Nigeria, the outgrowers of the company produces rice, maize and vegetable seeds, and small quantities of cassava stems and seed yam tubers. It is also one of the three companies producing wheat seed in Nigeria.

Fosuah Food Chain was established in 2017 by Connie Nyardo. The company operates on approximately 250 acres. The vast majority of the land is dedicated to cassava, and 20 acres are related to maize grain. In 2017, Fosuah Food Chain produced eight (8) acres of yam. Fosuah food chain’s main product is cassava planting material or cassava stems. The regional agricultural station of MOFA supplies the highly-subsidized cassava starter material for FFC. The company also works with five outgrowers groups, who farm on approximately 90 acres.
Fosuah Food Chain main business focuses on starter material of cassava and yam stems, which can be seen as a parallel to seed. Production fields are certified with regular visits from government agencies, such as Plant Protection and Regulatory Services Directorate (PPRSD) which certifies seed and works closely with researchers at Crops Research Institute (CRI) Ghana.
