Through the Sahel Scholars’ Program (SASP), Sahel partners with leading universities in Nigeria to engage students in her annual conferences, internship and scholarship. Over the last 3 years, Sahel has reached five (5) tertiary institutions with over 3,000 students participating in its scholars’ conference, awarded scholarships to nine (9) students in their penultimate year, and fully employed one outstanding Scholar.

In 2020, owing to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, Sahel hosted the first virtual Sahel Scholars Conference attracting over 500 student participants across the country. Sahel also launched the maiden edition of the Sahel Educators’ Conference, bringing together over a hundred stakeholders in academia and research in agriculture.

Through these efforts, Sahel is contributing to talent development in the sector by ensuring that students are empowered and informed about the opportunities in agriculture and helping them to build relevant skills required to launch successful careers in the sector.
