Sahel Capital currently manages FAFIN, which was launched in 2014 and is an innovative $65.9 million agribusiness focused private equity fund that aims to transform the agricultural finance landscape in Nigeria. FAFIN invests in high-growth companies across the agricultural value chain in Nigeria. FAFIN has an impact objective which ensures the inclusion of smallholder farmers either as suppliers to/clients of our portfolio companies; increased food security (increased production of food for domestic consumption); and the improved efficiency of value chains. FAFIN also has an associated $4.9 million TA Facility, funded by donors, for a range of initiatives to support portfolio companies – including activities such as smallholder farmer engagement, capacity building, ESG, market research, and product certification.

FAFIN has made seven investments in companies across six states in Nigeria engaged in various agricultural value chains including: dairy, edible oils, poultry, rice farming and processing, cassava farming and cassava starch production, shea butter processing, and agriculture packaging materials.
